A code added by the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) to a batch of goods to indicate the customs clearance results or what customs clearance actions are required of the terminal operator/consignee.

清关 Customs Clearance)

Customs formalities that must be completed for the transportation or pickup of goods at the place of origin, in transit and at destination.

危险货物 Dangerous Goods)

Dangerous goods are items or substances that may pose a significant threat to health, safety or property when transported by air.

运输申报价值 Declared Value for Carriage)

The value of goods declared by the shipper to the carrier for the purpose of determining freight charges or setting limits on the carrier’s liability for loss, damage, or delay.

海关申报价值 Declared Value for Customs)

Applicable to the value of goods declared to customs for the purpose of determining the amount of customs duties.

垫付款 Disbursements)

A fee paid by the carrier to an agent or other carrier and then collected by the final carrier from the consignee. These fees are usually charged to cover freight and incidental charges incurred by the agent or other carrier in transporting the goods.

EDIFACT (Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transportation)

It is the abbreviation of “Electronic Information Exchange for Management, Commerce and Transportation”. EDIFACT is an international standard for message syntax for electronic data exchange.

禁运 Embargo)

Refers to the carrier’s refusal within a certain period to carry any commodity, any type or grade of cargo to and from any region or location on any route or part of the routes or to accept transfers.

ETA/ETD (Estimated Time of Arrival / Estimated Time of Departure)

Abbreviation for estimated arrival/departure time.

Export License

A government licensing document that authorizes the holder (shipper) to export specified merchandise to a specific destination.

FIATA (Federation Internationale des Associations de Transitaires et Assimilées)

FIATA Licensee – Licensed to issue FIATA documents [FIATA Bill of Lading (FBL) "as Carrier" & Forwarders Certificate of Consignor and Forwarders Certificate of Receipt (FCR)] in Hong Kong Receipt (FCR)]. Covered by freight forwarder liability insurance (minimum liability limit: US$250,000).

Under the “free on board” condition, the goods are shipped by the seller at the shipping port specified in the sales contract. The risk of loss or damage to the goods passes to the buyer when the goods pass the ship’s rail (that is, after leaving the dock and being placed on the ship), and the handling charges are paid by the seller.

机场离岸价 FOB Airport)

This term is similar to the general FOB term. Once the seller hands over the goods to the air carrier at the departure airport, the risk of loss is transferred from the seller to the buyer.

货运代理 Forwarder)

运费表 Tariff)
