a. Choose the J bolt type
Material: stainless steel J bolt (such as 304/316) or hot-dip galvanized steel (rust-proof).
Size: The diameter is usually 8mm~12mm, and the length depends on the roof material (need to penetrate the base structure).
J-hook design: Make sure to hook the roof truss or wooden beam, not just fix it on the roof surface.
b. Positioning and drilling
Avoid waterproof layer: Prefer the location of roof truss or load-bearing beam.
Pre-drilling: The hole diameter is slightly smaller than the bolt diameter to avoid loosening.
Sloped roof: Waterproof sealant or rubber gasket (such as EPDM) is required to prevent water seepage.
c. Fixing method of J bolt
Wooden structure roof: Screw directly into the wooden beam and lock it with gasket and nut.
Concrete roof: Expansion anchor bolts or chemical anchor glue are required.
Metal roof: Special self-tapping screws or clamping fixings are required (to avoid damaging waterproofing).
