France threatens to impose sanctions on Israel(stud bolt)

According to Reuters, French Foreign Minister Stephane Séjourne said that Israel must be pressured and sanctions may even have to be imposed to force it to open border crossings to allow aid to reach Palestinians in Gaza.

According to reports, Séjourne told France Internationale Radio and France 24: “Influential means must be taken. There are many means – up to sanctions – to allow humanitarian aid to pass through checkpoints.”

He said: “France was one of the first countries to propose that the European Union impose sanctions on Israeli settlers who commit violence in the West Bank. If necessary, we will continue to fight for Israel to open (border crossings) for humanitarian aid.”

The United Nations warned that at least a quarter of the population in the Gaza Strip is currently on the verge of famine, and if timely action is not taken, large-scale famine is “almost inevitable.” Recently, many countries including Jordan and Egypt have airdropped relief supplies to the Gaza Strip.
